Hydroponically Grown Marjoram Chicken Recipe
Marjoram, a close relative of oregano, possesses a delicate sweet-pine and citrus flavor. In culinary applications, it complements various dishes, especially those with poultry. Using hydroponically grown marjoram ensures you get the freshest and most aromatic flavors.
Ingredients:
- Chicken Breasts: 4 boneless, skinless pieces
- Hydroponically Grown Marjoram: 2 tablespoons, freshly chopped, plus more for garnish
- Lemon: 1, zested and juiced
- Olive Oil: 3 tablespoons
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Salt and Pepper: To taste
- White Wine: 1/2 cup (or chicken broth if preferred)
- Butter: 2 tablespoons
Instructions:
- Marjoram Marinade: In a bowl, combine the freshly chopped hydroponically grown marjoram, lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Marinating Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a dish or zip-top bag. Pour over the marjoram marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably longer.
- Cooking Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the marinated chicken breasts in the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Making Sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, set it aside on a plate. In the same skillet, pour in the white wine (or chicken broth). Use a wooden spoon to scrape any bits from the bottom. Allow the liquid to simmer and reduce by half.
- Finishing Touches: Reduce the heat and stir in the butter, letting it melt into the sauce. Check the seasoning and adjust if necessary.
- Serving: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over them. Allow them to heat through for a couple of minutes.
- Garnishing: Before serving, sprinkle with some additional freshly chopped hydroponically grown marjoram for added flavor and a touch of color.
