Hydroponically Grown Peppermint Tea with Lemon and Honey
Nothing feels more refreshing than a cup of peppermint tea, especially when using fresh leaves. Hydroponically grown peppermint brings the promise of purity, vibrancy, and a more potent aroma to this classic herbal drink. This recipe offers a twist with the addition of lemon and honey, providing the perfect balance of zest and sweetness.
Ingredients:
- Hydroponically Grown Peppermint: 10-15 fresh leaves (or to taste)
- Honey: 1-2 teaspoons (or to taste)
- Lemon: 1 slice (and extra for garnish if desired)
- Water: 1 cup (250 ml)
- Ice cubes (optional, for cold variant)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Peppermint: Rinse the hydroponically grown peppermint leaves gently under cold water to refresh them. Pat them dry and slightly bruise or tear them to release the aromatic oils.
- Boil Water: In a kettle or a pot, bring the water to a rolling boil.
- Steep the Peppermint: Place the prepared peppermint leaves in a cup or teapot. Pour the boiling water over the leaves. Let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
- Add Flavorings: Add the honey and lemon slice to the cup or teapot. Stir gently to mix.
- Serve: If you’re preparing a hot tea, pour it into your serving cup and enjoy it warm. For a cold variant, let the tea cool down to room temperature or refrigerate for a faster cooldown. Once cool, serve over ice cubes in a glass, garnished with an extra lemon slice.
Tip: For an additional twist, consider adding fresh hydroponically grown ginger slices to the tea during the steeping process for a spicy kick. Fresh peppermint also pairs wonderfully with green or black tea, so you can add a tea bag or loose leaves to the mix if desired.
